Cassandre is one of my ninth grade students. She is a keen reader and she loves English !  (Yes, that happens sometimes ! )

I was looking for a budding book critic to review books on a regular basis on the blog and Cassandre agreed to tell you about her favourite books and write reviews.

Who could ask for more ? Thank you so much Cassandre !

Here is her first book review , a review of one of her favourite books : Quatre filles et un jean de Ann Brashares

As it’s my first article, I will tell you just about the first volume of « Quatre filles et un jean » by Ann Brashares.

This book tells the story of four female teenagers :

-         Carmen : has separated parents.

-         Tibby : likes the cinema, likes making movies.

-         Lena : likes art (painting), and she is Greek.

-         Bridget : her mother is dead.

They have known each other since their birth, their mother were together at a yoga course for pregnant women.

During all their childhood, they were together. This summer is the first when they are separated. Carmen has bought a jean, but she didn’t wear it. The day before being separated, the four teenagers tried to wear the jean. And each looked beautiful in it.

  • Carmen goes to see her father, but she discovers a family ...

  • Tibby stays at home, and she discovers a little girl (who is attacked by the leukaemia) who stays with her during the summer. She changes the life of Tibby ...

  • Lena goes to see her grandparents with her sister, but a guy changes her life too.

  • And Bridget goes to a football summer camp, where she has a crush for a coach.

The jean is the thing which will tie the four friends.

It’s a great book, which was offered to me by a friend.

I like the four teenagers because the four together are like me. I prefer Carmen because she didn’t want any change; I prefer Tibby because she discovers the people after her prejudices; I prefer Lena because she is shy and she likes silence; and I prefer Bridget because she enjoys her life with the disappointments.

I think all my friends can read it because it’s a very good book.
