Jim and Santa Claus

Once upon a time a little boy called Jim. It was winter time and Jim was very excited because there were only ten days before Christmas. He wrote a letter for Santa Claus, gave it to his mother and told her:

- You must put it in the mail box to send it to Santa Claus.

- Don’t worry Jimmy. I’ll do it as every year.

- Ok mum. But be careful and don’t lose it!

- Yes Jim. I have to go, I have to work.

Every year Jim was worried because his mum worked a lot and she had many things to do. So every year he thought that maybe his mother would forget to put his letter in the mail box.

A few days before Christmas Jim had to buy some chocolates for his English teacher.

- Mum, I need money to buy chocolate for my English teacher, he said, can you give me some?

- Yeah, take it in my purse, she answered.

- Ok!  Thank you mum!

Jim took his mother’s purse and opened it but he didn’t find what he wanted. He didn’t find some money, he found his letter. His letter for Santa Claus was still in his mother’s purse. He couldn’t believe it! Christmas day was in three days and the letter was still in this bag. Jim thought that Santa Claus couldn’t have his letter before Christmas.

So Jim decided to go to North Pole to give his letter to Santa Claus by himself.

He went up to his bedroom and took his gloves, a hat, a scarf, and a coat. Then he went out of his house carefully because he didn’t want his mother to see him.

He walked to the north. He stopped when he saw a man on the side of the road:

- Hello, said Jim.

- Hello, the man answered.

- Can you tell me the way to the North Pole, please?

- Sure, but what do you want to see there? There isn’t anything there!

- Of course there is something, said Jim. There is Santa Claus.

- Oh Santa Claus, said the man smiling.

Jim understood that the man thought he was stupid because he believed in Santa Claus. Jim had many friends who thought as this man. Nevertheless the man told Jim the way and Jim continued to walk.

He walked, he walked, and he walked and walked for a long time. As he walked he was getting colder, the wind was more violent. The snow began to fall and he knew that he was near Santa Claus’s. He held his letter stronger because the wind was very violent now. One hour later he saw a house. This house was amazing. It was huge and colourful. It was red and white, and the colours were bright. In front of the house there were four beautiful reindeers.

Jim ran faster and faster. He was really excited! He arrived and knocked at the door. The door opened and behind it there was … Santa Claus. Jim couldn’t believe it! He thought he was dreaming!

When Santa Claus saw him, he smiled. He looked very kind. He had big cheeks and a long white beard. He had long white hair and a red hat. He wore a red coat and red trousers.

- Come in Jim, said Santa Claus. It’s cold outside!

  - How do you know my name? Jim asked.

- I am Santa Claus.

- So, do you know everything? Jim asked Jim wanted to know everything about Santa Claus.

-I don’t know everything, Jim, I know many things, Santa Claus answered.

  - So, you must know why I am here. My mother has forgotten my letter in her purse, so I am here to give it to you.

Jim gave his letter to Santa Claus. Santa Claus was very kind with Jim. He gave him chocolate and fruit. Then he offered him to visit his gift factory. Jim was very pleased and really excited.

They arrived in a big room. In this room there were many elves who were running and hurrying.  Santa Claus held Jim's hand and showed him his factory.

- Here, said Santa Claus, we make toys. And there we wrap them up.

  - Wow, said Jim, it's just amazing !

Santa Claus didn't answer but he smiled to Jim. However Jim wasn't very pleased now. He was worried about his mother. Santa Claus saw that something was wrong so he told Jim:

 - What's the problem Jim ? You seem sad.

  - It's late now and my mother must be worried.

  -  I understand. Come with me.

Jim followed Santa Claus. They arrived in an other room. There was a sleigh. Santa Claus went away and came back with his four reindeers.  Then he sat in his sleigh and told Jim:

   -  Come with me, Jim.

    - Jim went up in the sleigh and the reindeer began to run. They ran faster and faster and a few second later the sleigh was flying.

It was late at night and the sky was beautiful. The stars were shining and the moon was bright. Jim was tired so he slept in the sleigh.

Later he arrived. He said goodbye and thank you to Santa Claus who smiled and flew away.

Jim's mother waited for his son. When Jim arrived she was very pleased so she forgot to ask him where he had been. So Jim never told his story. It was a secret between him and Santa Claus.
